Everyone is invited to a Pool Party on Memorial Day at our house. Please let me know if you plan to attend so I know how to shop.

i cant make it, but you should always know how to shop. have keys to car, a healthy breakfast (you don't want to be distracted by a growling tummy) and lots of money (plastic will be even better). think happy thoughts. usually i will have something in mind when i shop, like a nice purse i need or definetely some shoes. anyway, the important thing is to have fun. bring a friend, that makes it more fun. anyway, that's my advice.

I'll be there.
Nancy that was great advice. I would wear flat shoes as well. You can shop longer because your feet won't start to hurt and you can move quicker. You might want to check for sales before you venture out so you will know where to go for the best buyes.

So I've been gone for a while, but I'm back checking in. I get distracted for a couple of months and then forget to check regularly, but I got this invitation, and I was reminded! So hello to all!

So Aunt Barb, I'm not sure if Stephen and I will make it to the pool party yet. We are moving this weekend, so our days have been a little crazy as of late. Depending on how far along in the unpacking we are, we might be able to join ya. Here's hoping!

Oh- and as far as tips for shopping go... Keep in mind I learned from the world renown shoppers Brittany & Bridget:
- If you like something but you're not sure if you should buy it, walk away from it for a little while. If you come back and it's still there- it was meant to be!
- If you see something you like, but you're not sure what you'll do with it, buy it anyway (buy two if it's on sale). It's always good to have extra gifts on hand for unexpected exchanges.
- If something fits well, buy it in every color.
- Never pay full price. Leeman will tell you that everything is negotiable- do not let the corporate rigor of stores like Nordstrom intimidate you from making an offer you feel is more fair.
- Calculate costs based on wear. For example, a pair of $200 jeans is worth it if you wear them 200 times over 2 years (only $1 per wear!). However, a $200 dress that you might only wear once might be too much of a splurge.
- Do not shop while impaired. If you do, expect to come home with purchases that are difficult to explain in a sober state (i.e. Jesus is my Homeboy Trucker hat)

Wow I could keep going, but I'll stop!

Melissa I got the goose-bumps when I saw you were back. Well I don't wear flats when shopping...never wear flats actually...I find I get more sales attention in heels. I am the Queen of putting something on hold, as Melissa mentioned earlier some purchases require a walk away thought process. But you must make sure to put it on hold and take the sales lady's card. Sometimes I will e-mail the name and number to my dad but since he has me blocked from e-mails and his assistant will not accept my calls i try to come up with some kind of job for $. I will go to any length for $...well not any...but I have been known to do load patrol, cleaning the garage, even public embarrassing stunts for my dad's humor. "Holding" also forces the sales people to remember your name so now whatever/whenever/whereever I enter a store i am greeted on a first name basis. I do like to bring a friend or a local homegirl but I can accomplish the most and be very affective with my mom.....no not b/c she buys me things but b/c she has the best/honest responses and is very talented with reasoning on wether to buy or not. And she can be patient bc she understands a purchase can be a life changing decision.

Melissa congratulations on your new place. Sure hope you and Stephen can make it. Sounds like you could use some fun with good company, food, drinks, games, relaxation, etc. Mary hope you are bringing John with you. Haven't really seen him in awhile. And for the rest of you thank you for the info on shopping. I will have to try some of it because I really do not like to shop. Don't like to shop for food, clothes, shoes, anything really. I guess I just hate to part with Gerry's hard earned money. I might like it if I got to spend someone else's money. Maybe some day I will enjoy it.

Brittany, I used to wear heels all the time. Now I am old and my feet start to hurt so I wear flats when I know it is going to be a long day. But you are right. It is all about the look. Heels make your legs look better. But then again, at my age and weight, even heels can't make my legs look better.
Okay, it think I have talked myself into diet and exercise. We'll see how long that lasts.

Mary, I wrote to Vincent Wong and asked to meet me when I go down there in the summer. Do you want to go down there when I'm there?? Have you talked to him, I knkow he would LOVE to see either you or Bridget rather than me, so think about it. He says he's an old man now and doesn't work, but his wife does. Anyone else want to go see Vince? It'll be lunch I think.

I need organization skills. Does anyone have any good tips? I'm now responsible for alot more at Hayle's school, and I'm afraid they don't realize how unorganized I really am. What should I do?? Help.
BTW, go to my blog!

flying to FL June 29. Then Pete flies in either the 1st or 2nd. On the 5th we leave on cruise. So sometime between the 29th and the 4th. We've been exchanging xmas cards for years. Then I sent him a letter and he answered me back, he gave me a phone number. Do you want it?

I just went down to the cafeteria to get lunch & of course I was walking like I was running a marathon (these long legs travel fast)...really I saw the cookie display and got excited...but yeah I ran into (at approx. 15 mph) a very delicate older man who happens to be the owner of my company (Si Newhouse). Everyone was doting on him and I am the one that speed walks into him. Not surprising...not like you guys care...but it would have been funny if you were there.

Brittany, I would have loved to be there. I would have laughed too. We're you able to apologize through your laughter or did you just laugh and move on?

Yes Nancy I would like his phone number. We'll have to get Bridget to go to lunch too. I think that would be fun.
