Since We're Constantly Swapping Recipes...

Hello All,

Christy and I are prepared to unveil something exciting. Something creative and new- unlike anything before it. (Cue: "Chariots of Fire") Something you'll brag to your friends about, but won't dare share with them. Something your children will fight over upon your death. And then their children will fight over it when they die, until 200 years from now the Smithsonian is fighting for it. And the good news: we're including you in its creation.

BEHOLD! This December the Braun family will make its indelible mark on the culinary world. We'll all get a little bit fatter as critics storm us with praise for the gastric gift we will bestow upon each other. Grown adults will cry with anticipation, anorexics will cave at the sight, mamas will be slapped.

We give you- The Braun Family Cookbook!!!

You have a chance (allright, an obligation) to participate in something truly remarkable. Christy and I will be collecting family recipes to create a special cookbook of family favorites. No more calling Bridget for her Sugar Cookie Recipe. No more admitting you got a recipe off a website (ahem, Eggplant Parm) by referring people to it. This printed collection of recipes will house it all and give credit where it is due.

Here are the details:
**Please email all recipes to: melissashayes@gmail.com
This is a new email address, but please send it here so they're all in the same place.
**Please email recipe requests to us as well. Meaning, if you want to make sure that the Pumpkin Biscotti does not remain a secret, let us know and we'll harass the keeper to make sure it's included.
**Please send us any fun pictures of the food, the family cooking together, or anything you deem relevent to possibly include in the book.
**Be sure to include all details like ingredients, cook times/temps, etc.
**Make sure you send recipes that you are known for, recipes that you love, recipes that have some inside joke you'd like to share... whatever. Everyone should send as many as they'd like.
**Nobody is exempt. Please tell everyone so that we get 100% participation (including the non-bloggers and the 18-24 set). Even if your recipe is for Grand's Biscuits alla Mary. It will serve as comic relief for generations to come!

That's it. We hope to be hearing from you all soon. We will keep you posted on the printing of these magnificent books and just how exactly you can get your hands on one once we have done some hard work in designing and laying out.

Love, Melissa & Christy

you guys are AWESOME!! This is just what I always wanted! And I like how you right real good. (I mean write) OK, I am in, and I'll be collecting and sending my recipes soon. (can I take credit for a recipe I copied from a website?) And is December enough time? I don't normally take pictures of my food, so I'll have to start. This could take a little time. But LOVE the idea!!!! You are the best!

That is ridiculous! Did he really write such a book? What an a--hole. What publishing company published it and who is the editor. We definately need to boycott. I'll even boycot the bookstores that sell it. And that will kill me. I guess I need to run out and get all the books I'll need tonight.

Yes, he really did write this book. He is despicable.
Because he's not getting much attention these days, and he STILL can't find the "real" killer, he comes up with what is, most assuredly, the worst idea in the history of bad ideas. It is contemptible, downright scummy, and someone is paying him for it. He won't be paid directly by Fox, but he will receive money from ReganBooks, part of Harper Collins Publishing, which is owned by Fox's parent company.
You can write to Fox at this address and let them know how you feel:
FOX Broadcasting Co.
P.O. Box 900
Beverly Hills, CA 90213
You can email them at: askfox@foxinc.com.
But the best thing to do is to go after the sponsors. We are sure to hear who they are soon. And if you do boycott the sellers of the book, make sure to let them know why.

I LOVE the idea! Okay...back in 2000 I copyrighted the book and sent some rough drafts to publishers. I heard back that the idea was good but I needed to work on it more. Anyway,my book is called Recipe Sharing With Family and Friends. There is a spot for you to place a picture of your dish or the party you served the dish at. Next to the recipe is a section to write about why you like the recipe, when you served it, what else goes good with it...etc. I have everything in a great software system at the office now...I worked on it over the past year. I guess I will have to get printing soon! Then once we have the book, we can share recipes and add pages...

Lori, Why did a select few get a copy? I knew you were working on one but never saw anything.

Nancy said...

Melissa, I'm getting ready to send you my selection of recipes! I have many more though!! Hope everyone else is sending them in. I am sending 9 right now

I want to write a book, "If I were to Kill OJ . . ."

Nancy said...

Ooooh, I will be your co-author. I swear to god, it is an outrage!! I hope they end up not airing his interview because of NO SPONSORS!! I will without doubt buy NOTHING of any sponsor of the show. nothing! Even if it's something I really like. And I hope everyone writes in. It's unbelievable. He is saying he killed them. He did it. I've heard them talking about it on FOXNews and that's what they say. So. anyway, it's too bad Mr. Goldman wasn't a real hothead and lost it and killed OJ.

O.K. I just read that nobody bakes cookies like Brittany. That's because she does not bake them all the way. She bakes them for half the time the directions say. They are raw. But she say's that they are really soft. You be the judge.

woohoo! You did it!! Now we will be looking for blogs from you!! Kathy, you are such a dork. You're a bigger dork for liking pate though, gross. We are making crab cakes, cole slaw, french fries, and shrimp cocktail tonight. Is it July? We had a cold hail storm this morning! Crazy! Mom, I'm so excited for when you come. I may make you stop at Costco on the way home from the airport though. I mean, you have to stay awake, and what better way than shopping? Seriously though, i'm only picking up diet coke and a few bite of good snacks. So, I just checked, and I did not win the £120 euro lotto. Dang it. I got one number. as usual. ok, gotta go clean hayle's room with her. we're watching the DaVinci code tonight, and hayle rented R.V. with robing williams. but only if she eats a crab cake can she watch it WITH us.

Nancy said...

why is it so funny when you mispell stuff? i almost spelled crab cake 'crap cake', that was funny

Nancy said...

they do have good hot dogs, we always buy them. it's a good store. you will see! We just finished cleaning hayles room. it took all 3 of us about 6 hours. whew!!

Nancy said...

oh, my poor little blog has sat there for days and days with no post. it's so sad

Wow, it was like reading a world renowned author describing the inside story of the struggles both mentally and physically of the demanding quest for victory against a defiant and adament opponent. I was glued to the computer, i could not tear myself away from the grip the story had on both my mind and my emotions. It was mesmerizing! Thank you, thank you to you all.....

American's spoke and Fox listened. Fox cancelled O.J.'s interview and the book was cancelled as well.....Hurray!!!

Nancy said...

I'M SO EXCITED, IT REALLY WORKED!! THEY LISTENED! YEAH! I did send an email so I'm glad I did.

Kathy - your writing skills are quite extraordinary. Your use of descriptive adjetives truly brought the match alive...I swear it felt like I was there.
I'm glad the biscotti's turned out great!
