Well, we picked up some brick and stone for the new house today. We really are not sure what we are going to use but the price was too good to pass any of it up. I prefer stacked stone but it seems the brick is more abundant. These were left over on the homes we are building in the new subdivision. It was all going to be thrown out. Brick is baked in lots--kind of like yarn is dyed in lots. They can't take extra back because it won't match the other lots. Silly if you ask me. I can certainly understand if I were knitting a sweater I would want all the yarn to match. However, I don't believe any brick is identical even when it comes from the same lot. Surely you would not see enough of a difference to make a difference. Well, it isn't going to make a difference for us because these aren't even the same color. Of course I really just want stacked stone to go up the fireplace inside and outside the house. I can use the brick for a patio, driveway and/or a fir pit. I'll have plenty of uses for it. Either way I am taking all the free brick and stone I can get my hands on--while I can.

I don't know what a fir pit is, but can't wait to see yours when it's done. You're getting me so excited about you building a house, it ALMOST wants me to build one. We've been back and forth and decided to just buy one. We'll let the kids fight over the property and build if they want to. So, i'll just sit back and watch you. It's so much more fun. And I'm with you on the bricks. A little diversity on color never hurt anything; it makes it that much more interesting, especially if it's all mixed in together.
My comment posted twice, so I deleted one!
Well, I am very excited too! This is really hard making decisions on some things. They are such permanent decisions. I have already changed my mind about the fireplace being in the middle of the room. We are going to put it on the front wall between the windows and then run the stacked stone up the chimney on the outside. I was afraid putting it in the middle would take away from the openness of all the rooms. I think this change will be great. Now I can't decide on a color for the outside of the house. I wanted red but John said it is not a good idea to have a black tin roof. I definitely don't want green on a red house. I thought about copper by my friend thinks it will look too orangey on the red house. This is so frustrating.
As for the fir pit I am also thinking of making that a fire pit now. I would much rather have a pit with a fire in it than a pit full of fir.
There's nothing more traditional than a red barn; but a red house? Not sure I've really seen a red house, especially with a green tin roof. It would be Christmas year round! That might be fun.
I'm so glad it's Friday. However, I had been looking forward to our first sewing session at Nancy's; but that's been axed. Not sure about next week either; maybe never. Of well. we'll figure soomething out.
It will probably be a go for 8/31 and I will be on my way to California; so who cares!!
I hate the red poka dot dress I made for your grandaughter. So, I am going to get more fabric and make a dress I like. I will get it to you before I leave for California. the second pattern you bought is adorable and much like the red poka dot dress Lindsey wore as a little girl. It had a big white collar and so does the pattern. I will make it from start to finish; starting it during the weekend and finishing it before next weekend. That is a promise. So it will be in the mail next within 2 weeks.
I found the cutest quilt pattern I bought to make for Rick to give to Carley.
It says "Always Kiss the Princess Goodnight". You can see it on Craftsy.com-look through the patterns. I'm gonne have to get it done in time for rick to give it to her this winter when she needs it.
Well, it's 3 mintutes to work time, blah blah blah
There are lots of red houses around--not with green roofs, but there are lots of red houses.
I brought Patty up to my house to visit for a week. Let me warn all of you--everyone in the family. Take care of yourself!!! I cannot stress enough the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Eat right, get your exercise and don't smoke, drink excessively--but do drink some-and don't make excuses. OMG! Patty is 56 years old. Cannot walk without a walker. Has more pills than Johnson & Johnson. She has congestive heart failure, COPD, diabetes, high blood pressure, fiber mialga (spelling is probably wrong) . . . and the list goes on. She is still smoking. She does not drink water at all. You cannot tell her what to do and she knows she is dying. She is not sure she will live another year.
I cannot imagine having all these illnesses and not even trying to take care of myself so I can live a little longer.
To all my sisters and brothers, my mom and definitely my kids--neices, nephews--DO NOT let me hear you are not taking care of yourselves.
Holy shit what a waste
So sad. I just can't imagine why anyone would choose to live like that! Like you said, what a waste.
I started on a little red and white polka dot dress. It's so cute, I may have to make 2 of them; saving one for someone else.
I'm on the phones this week, which means I just sit around waiting to answer the phone. Sometimes it's busy, but generally it's not. I hope we never have face to face phones while I'm still here. I know I'd be fired with my first call. I get the ugly look as soon as the call comes through and they start talking. You know, my sympathetic side comes through loud and clear! Even when I'm trying, I just can't fake it. (thanks mom). I get a lot of hang ups, and people requesting someone that actually wants to help! whatever!! I can't retire soon enough..
Hahahahahaha, I can just see you as you answer the phone. I have the same genes, don't feel bad.
Can't wait to see the dress!
Ok, so I got up this morning with John at 4:20. Who gets up at the same time and takes away my "me" time? Omg, she is still up. I am waiting for her to go to bed so I can have my "me" time.
We had dinner with Christy and Leeman and she was telling Christy how Coco follows her everywhere. Yeah because she calls Coco. "Coco, come here. Want to go outside? Come on, come here Coco." I think Coco has gotten annoyed with her. There is only ONE Mistress in this house and it is MOI!
Then she says Coco doesn't lick her. Yeah she doesn't like the taste of her. And of course Coco listens to her--she is staying away from her. She makes it sound like Coco only listens to her and not me. I have had enough of this shit. Someone needs to go home.
I feel like I have been babysitting. I have to help her out of the house. Hold doors opened for her. Help her in the car, put her walker in the car. Run around to the drivers side. Then when I get somewhere I have to drop her off at the door, run around the car to open her door, get the walker out get her situated, run back around to the driver's side and go park the car. Then run up to the store where she is till standing because she has not moved yet.
She always has to go to the bathroom and I have to stand outside her stall and guard the walker for her.
I'd rather have grandchildren.
You make it sound like having Grandchildren is a bad thing! It's not..Tell your kids to get on the ball; literally!!
Looks like you and I are the only ones on the blog these days. I think we could probably just text each other, or call.
Maybe once Nancy has her first party, she'll post it here! Maybe I'll suggest it.
Time for the phones. I just can't wait; recently I was called a "cocky bitch", I wanted to tell her I'd been called worse, but thought better of it. recently, I just get them mad eneough to hang up on me. That seems to be going around; full moon and all.
It's not bad to have your grandchildren--they just wear you out. I feel like I cannot wait for her to go to bed so I can relax. She has always told me she is in bed by 8:00 and she has not gone to bed before 11:30 since she has come to my house.
It is exhausting.
OMG! I am so pissed!! So tonight, we went out to dinner. 'american smokehouse'. it was OK. at the end, I hadn't finished all mine, and bought, it's only little, but it's perfect for my mid-day snack. When I asked the girl if I could get it packed up, she said, no. She said due to 'health and safety' rules, because the temperature of the food had changed since she brought it to the table, she wan't allowed. I'm like, WHAT?!!??! excuse me, WHAT?!?!?!?!! My meal, I'm paying for and you won't pack it up??!?! She said I could complain to 'environmental health'. So I pulled out my phone, googled it, and wrote to them. But I'm fuming!!!
I would be pissed too! It's cooked you f'n moron!
WHAT ??? You can't take home the left over meal YOU PAID for? I never heard of such a thing..
Well, tomorrow morning I will be taking Patty home. I know she had a good time but it is time for her to go. I am exhausted but so looking forward to getting back to normal--what ever that might be.
That's what I said Rick!! Oh, I am speaking to them tomorrow!!!
I have had normalcy for two days and tomorrow I will be leaving for PA for Anelise's 1st birthday and Xavier's 3rd birthday. When we come back we will have Waylon's 3rd birthday and then in October we will be going back up north for Hunter's 5th birthday. Caroline will be 4 in December but we will not be going up for her birthday. Next year we will make it to her 5th.
We are taking the camper on this trip and John said Hunter and Caroline can spend the night with us a couple nights. So excited!!
Sounds like fun Mary!! Drive safe!
So I just looked to make sure John Edwards this weekend is at 2pm, and it is. Then I discovered we have tickets tomorrow to see Hamlet in Stratford-Upon-Avon!! I'm so glad I looked, it was not in my diary!!! Now Pete has to leave work early. But wow, I am busy now! We also have a black tie on Saturday night.
Gosh, i just got all caught up on all the news..I must have been sleeping..Any wayI have nothing much to add, but it is fun reading about all of you.(I mean the three of you)..I think I will do something exciting next week,,,
OK, everyone!!! I'm going to see John Edwards today in Cardiff. I'm dragging Hayle with me, she is scared. It's early, at 2pm. So 9am your time!! Wake up and send Dad to me!! Yell, scream, pray, whatever you want! I"ll let you know how it goes.
Sorry about that Nancy..I think he was too busy hiding things in my house..I am Serious.....
oh Mom. He loves to tease you!!
So anyway. Hayle almost cried on the train going there because she was so scared. I think she thought it was going to be like a seance. And since we were going out for a charity do, and were going to be out during the evening, she even asked a friend if she could spend the night at her house because she was afraid to be alone. Anyway, afterwards, she came out with a huge smile and said she couldn't wait to go to another one!! So that was good!
John Edward was amazing! It started the same way where he came out and explained what he did, and took questions. But that took over 45 minutes!!! Ugh! Then he started reading. Maybe he read 10 people? And 8 of them were SPOT ON!! Like, Everything he said, the people were like 'Yes!' One time he was talking to a guy and he said there was alcoholism, and then he said there was a Germany connection, but that was it that could be related to me. Nothing else from them.
But I also had to see my neighbor in the city centre right before the show to give him something. He asked what we were doing and I told him. Then he told me this guy Colin Frye comes in his shop all the time. He is a British medium. So I was like, ooooooh, did he tell you anything and he said 'Oh, Yes!' I'm like what, what!?!! Do you know what he said!!??
He said he had done a reading with the McCanns. Remember Madeline McCann? The little girl who went missing in Portugal? Well he said the parents are guilty as sin!!! What?!?! I have always refused to believe that! But what if it really is true??!! Anyway, he said he told him other personal stuff that was all true but he didn't tell me what it was. He also said he comes to Cardiff twice a year and he'll get me in his show! That'd be cool!
Hey Barb and Gerry, let's see your new toy! Looking forward to planning weekend with you guys!
Holy cow, I don't think I've seen this blog so dormant EVER !!!! Where is everyone ?
Oh well, I've heard "no news is good news" so we'll dwell on that..Tomorrow will be better!
I haven, tbeen on this site in forever. My computer doesnt work so I'm doing this from my tablet.

OMG, it worked!!!!
So,let me tell you about my week. There must have been a chamber of commerce meeting up in West Palm Beach and they told the merchants to give freebies to the other local businesses because we got a free pizza, free Jimmy John's subs and discounts on hair cuts. I took advantage of all three. Then the weird things started happening. Some guy comes in the office asking for money. He hands me his arrest record which is really long and tells me he's trying to do good. Then some lady about my age comes in and has tattoos everywhere. And I,m talking all over, including her face and bald head. Plus lip, nos e and eyebrow piercings. The lastguy to come in was at least 6' 5 and was an albino who tried to dye his hair black.
So how was your week?
OK..Last night Linda called and said she made squash soup, and did i like it..Ah, don't now..But she made too much, did I want some so I thought Ok I'll try it. then she asked if I ever ate left-over meat loaf..Are you kidding? Love love it. so today for lunch,I had the best bowl of soup. It was sooo good..Tonight I will have meatloaf( and since I had to have a little taste, I know my dinner will be as good''. So my request to all the Brauns,is to say a small prayer tonight that Linda cooks too much again...
