Move Over Stephen A Tornado Hit Atlanta

Sorry to have to replace Stephen so quickly, but this is news in the making. Barb and I (freelance news photographers here in Atlanta) drove to Atlanta to assess the damage. We confirm there was a severe storm. Take a look! If you want to see more go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/90851013@N00/ and check out my pictures

Wow, what pictures!!! Mary and Barb, our new Storm Chasers!!
I also hear there was damage in Villa Rica, have you seen any distruction in that city?
My day wasn't as exciting. I sat in a high school auditorium for 10 1/2 hours to watch Neil fight in one of those grappling competitions. And that means 10 1/2 hours before he ever started to compete. He had three more fights after the first one. The meet was sponsored by NAGA. DON'T GO IF THEY SPONSOR ANYTHING!!!
The auditorium had a capacity of 2500 people, there had to be over 3000 in there. They registered 1500 competitors!! What a night. It was horrible and the absolute worst event I have ever ever been to. Although I did get to watch Neil beat a "World Champion" and even had him tap out. Good Job Neil! I'm going with Linda and Heather this morning to go to the "Bodies Exhibit". I can't wait for that, in fact I'd better get going.

Pete went to Rugby all day yesterday. It was the 6 Nations cup or whatever and Wales won. They really are good I guess! Hayle and I went to a local pool that just opened and it had AMAZING slides! anyone want to come over here this summer?? Lori, can your kids come over with mom?? ok, so this morning pete and hayle went to the gym, and I am finishing up cleaning (can't you tell?) and getting a little peace and quiet. I'm so excited to be coming over this week!! Yippee!!! Lori when are your kids out of school. Who's doing what on Friday?? Let's do stuff! I have to go to target to get Hayle some Easter stuff.
That storm looks CRAZY!! Thank God we have on the spot reporting from Mary and Barb!! You guys are awesome!! Glad everyone's OK.

Oh, I just have to tell you about my day today. It was soooo nice. The Bodies Exhibit was very interesting. They have to preserve the bones and tissue some how so in some cases they do look a bit fake but then you remember that they really are bodies and it is awesome. It took about an hour to go through it and then after that we walked down the boadwalk to watch the boats go by. Then we decided to go across the river because we could see there was an antique car show. We got lunch, and sat outside, it was beautiful. We talked and giggled and then walked up and down the street to look at the cars and then came home. It was really really nice. Then,... on the way home we decided to call mom (trying to find Lori) and she told us that she had fallen coming out of church. Bad enough that Lori didn't even laugh. Mom said her shoes didn't fit right and she walked out of one of them and it made her fall. Poor Kelly was so upset that she grabbed the shoes and made Grandma walk into her house barefoot and then threw the shoes in the garbage. I stopped by to check on "Grandma" and she's fine. We even went to the store and back over to Lori's for a minute. But she has strick instructions from Kelly that she is only allowed to wear Sketchers. (They have a strap)
Anyway, that's my day and is was a great day all in all. Back to work tomorrow!!!!!

Well, I don't want to be out done by Kathy. John and I went to Highland Falls State Park in Jackson, Ga. It was really nice. I took lots of pictures (surprise, surprise) and we found a geocache and John did some fishing. Hmm, it seems I am going to be out done by Kathy. Maybe I should tell you more about Atlanta yesterday.

Barb and I went to assess the damage, as you can see by my posting. At first we couldn't get to Centennial Park (so many roads were closed off). We parked and walked around taking pictures, then we headed for Melissa's. We parked in Melissa's parking lot and started walking down the street taking pictures. Little Gerry met us down there with his girlfriend so we went into Melissa's building and visited. Then we went to lunch in Edgewood, because Melissa still didn't have power. When we were heading home, Barb and I decided we really wanted some pictures of the Westin Hotel so we headed over there and discovered we could get to Centennial Park. We parked the car and walked probably for miles taking pictures of all the damage. While we were walking, Linda called to tell us there was grapefruit size hail coming down in Villa Rica. I called John because he was on his way home from work and I just knew he would not know. Alas, I was wrong. John had hail hitting the truck so he had to pull over under an underpass. Barb and I decided we better get out of there because the storm was headed for Atlanta. Well, by then Gerry had called Barb and told her to stay in Atlanta because there was a severe storm up their way. We decided to wait it out at Melissa's, but we didn't make it. We had gotten to the car just in time for the rain to come pouring down, then the hail started hitting us as we were getting off the interstate. I pulled over on the side of the road next to a building. The building shielded us some. It was over in an instant and the only thing that could have made my day better would have been to see a tornado and get pictures. Now that was fun!

As you already know I went to the bodies exhibit today. It was very interesting. The bodies realy did not look real but knowing they were was the cool part. The day was great. The weather was perfect!! Then we DROVE over the bridge and had a nice lunch on the water. :)
We should do this more often.
Gram Braun I hope you feel better.
Then Brian, Christian and I went down to Hollywood Beach and met my mom, sister and brother-in-law for dinner. We ate at this nice Italian place were the food was yuk!!! Then we walked over to get gelatos. Sorta like ice cream. Yummy!! I ate so much today. I feel like a bloated toad!!
Tomorrow my mom is taking my sister and me to the spa. I have never been to a spa. Weird, because I have worked in one for 11 years. I am sure it will be awesome!!! Have a good night!!!

Hello anyone,
Well yesterday I went to work, nothing exciting there. After that I went to G-ma's and I trimmed her hair and played with Linda's. I picked up Linsey from the airport (her flight was an hour late( and got home about 11:30pm. Of course I had to stay up later to hear about all the tornado's she went through last Saturday. But it was her flight up to Atlanta that sounded the most harrowing. I guess a wind gust must have caught her plane and she said it turned sideways to the point that she was looking down at the passenger who was sitting next to her and then it took a nose dive. Linsey said people were screaming and crying. Her flight was the last one to land Friday night in Atlanta just as the Tornado hit. She also said just as she got in the car to leave the Atlanta airport they locked all the doors to seal everyone in.
OK, that's all I got.

Why did she wait until now to tell you about that flight. Holy mackerel, that would have scared me. I would not have kept that a secret for a few days.

Linsey, that flight sounds terrifing and crazy!! I am glad your ok. I will not tell my sister about that one, she HATES to fly.
My heart is pounding just thinking about what you went through. WOW!!!
