I'm sure you guys will make a u-turn or tow!! Let us know!
Well, we made no plans. Pete has a triathlon tomorrow, and he wants to carb-load today. If he does, then we do too. That's the way it goes. Hayle's making ch.chip cookies, and I'm not tell what I made because I asked it on Facebook. There's a picture I put on FB too that you have to guess what it is. what do you think??

Have fun at BB's!! Wish I was there!

We helped someone from AA move today. I really thank God for a ranch plan. OMG there were so many steps. I probably lost 50 pounds. I'm sure the scale will show it tomorrow.
Now we are going to a "Taste of Douglasville" to make up for all the calories I burned.

Took a walk along the Hudson River this morning. Walked across the Brooklyn Bridge this afternoon. At the Neil Simon Theatre on Broadway watching Jesus Christ Superstar. Not a bad day in NYC. Having a fantastic time with Charlie.

OMG! I was in pj's by 6:30 and lying around doing nothing the rest of the night. Patty was exhausted.
BTW, she doesn't like people knowing her business so don't say anything on facebook. She knows you all know she is sick but she doesn't want the rest of the world to know.
It is sooo sad. She looks like she's 70 years old and gets very offended when people think she is older. I'm like really? You can't see yourself in the mirror? One thing is for sure, I am so grateful for my health and good looks (lol). We should all be grateful for our health. Mom you look better than Patty. Duh, I mean younger. No kidding.
We have been really blessed! I can't imagine living her life. No family, no money, no health.

what the heck?? what's wrong with her?

Pete's mom just went to stay with Chuck for a few days. His daughter was just put into hospice last week. Chuck and his ex wife also have a severely mentally handicapped son, so when one is gone, the other has to watch him. so chuck had flown to texas to be with his daughter, then he had to leave so her mother could fly in. Carol said she thanks God every day for the blessings in her life as well!! You can't imagine, none of us can, because we are so incredibly blessed, to have to go through that. Whatever is wrong with Patty, I hope things turn around!

Nancy, Patty has among many other ailments, congestive heart disease and clogged arteries. She had a stint put in her heart last December and today she had an artery in one leg opened and Thursday she is having the other leg done. She has another clog in her heart but it is too dangerous to touch. She also has diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid problems, viral meningitis, fiber mialga (spelling?) shingles, and I am sure there is more. Both her parents died in the last year and a half. Her daughter is in Japan and her son is in Texas. Her sister doesn't talk to her because she blames Patty for her mother's death. Her mother died of caner of the brain. I'm not sure how Patty cause that. She has two brothers who are really poor and no one to help her.
Poor thing, the only person to help her is me. That is really sad.

wow! what a list! You're nice to help her out. How far are you from her? is she confined then to home? does she get out at all? God, it doesn't sound like I'm talking about someone as young as you does it?!!? Sounds like she's old!
Well, I hope she has enough sense to take care of herself. some things will improve by eating right and exercise, and being positive. SOME things. Anyway, you're a good person Mary!

I don't know if I am good, I am cringing a lot while I am here. She lives in Valdosta but her doctor is in Gainesville, FL so we are in a hotel here with her dog.
She is confined to her home because she is afraid of everything. She is afraid of her neighborhood (it is a military area (?), she is afraid of the shopping center and grocery store. I keep telling her she needs to go to the library and join a book club but the library is too far. I think anything over 2-3 miles is too far. She is quite the "woe is me" person. I told her she had to change her attitude or I was not going to call her any more. I said she was too depressing and I cringed every time I called her. I told her this on one of her good days. I wasn't a total bitch. But some times you have to tell people they are depressing.

nancy said...

maybe she needs depression pills too? good grief, you ARE a good friend!! I don't know if I would have the patience? I always think I want to slap someone who is afraid of everything and doing anything!!

One more day and I can go home!!! It has been a long draggy boring week. I think I put on 10 pounds. There is no gym at this hotel and no place to walk--well a little bit. I cannot wait for tomorrow to come.

OMG! They could not do the procedure. We spent 6 hours at the medical center and they could not do it. Her arteries are so blocked they could not get the stint through. She has to wait a few weeks to re-schedule for a different procedure.

Bridget said...

OMG! That is unbelievable. Mary you are a really good friend. Let me know the next time you are doing this. Maybe I could come up. I haven't seen Patty in years!!! Well, they have layed our dinning room marble, and it is BEAUTIFUL!!! I am so excited. It takes a really long time to lay. Its called mud set, and it has no grout. Soooo cool. Can't wait. I will let everyone know how its going.

Pictures, Bridget!!

Mary, you are such a great friend. But I would be so mad that they couldn't do the procedure. what does she have to do to unclog her arteries enough to do it, and will she?
I'm planning a very lazy 3 day weekend. Maybe do some beading, knitting and whatever I feel like doing.
And yes Bridget - Pictures!!!

The calcium build up was like cement. They need to use some machine that is at the hospital. This was done at an out patient clinic. They are going to do it in a couple weeks at the hospital and that is only about an hour from her house and it will only be that one day. I'll go down on a Wednesday night so I can take her to the hospital Thursday then bring her home and leave from her house Friday. It won't be so bad. Honestly I don't think it is being such a "good" friend. She definitely has made me appreciate my health and my entire family's health. Also, it really makes you appreciate a big close family. I can't imagine having no one to be there for you. She has a sister who will not talk to her, a couple of nieces and nephews that are not allowed to help her (her sister's kids) and two brothers who can't afford to do anything to help. Kids that can't help. So what do you do? You all are just lucky you don't have any friends that are so sick and helpless. Thank you God for my family, life and my health!!!
